October is here!

OPAPO Carnival 2017: Thank you to OPAPO and all of you that attended the Carnival. What a great time and huge fundraiser for our classrooms, teacher-budgets and students.
Leader in Me Kick-off Assemblies: Students have been learning the habits over the last 6 weeks and on Friday the elementary students had the “7-Habits Kick-off” Assemblies. The goal of this program is that students not only know the habits but can use them to solve problems and develop a personal effectiveness. Help us reinforce these habits by simply asking your students what they learned.
To help us improve the Leader in Me program at OPA, please provide feedback in this short survey:

Road to Responsibility: OPA Teachers and staff have been participating in a book study and professional development teaching kids to be responsible for their own behavior. The book is called Roadmap to Responsibility by Larry Thompson and he will soon be coming out with parenting book. We will keep you posted on the release date and book club groups for the parents of OPA.

Second grade is declaring the month of October SOCKTOBER! We are being PROACTIVE and taking action to help our local homeless shelter. Our goal is to collect 500 pairs of socks. These socks will be donated to the Lantern House homeless shelter here in Ogden. If you wish to participate, please bring NEW socks of all sizes, colors, patterns, and varieties to our classrooms by Oct. 31st. Please oh please spread the word and help us help others! Our 2nd grade leaders will be making posters and speaking during announcements throughout the month. We’d love to see the whole school join us in this meaningful service project. Junior high teachers, we will place a box in the office for you and your students to drop off your donations. For more information about this service project please check out the following website: We will track our progress and keep you posted. As always, thank you for your support. The 2nd Grade Team
