Returning to school this week, several alerts have come to my attention about a dangerous activity students are engaging in through social media; called the MOMO Challenge. I am resending this message from the Ogden School District to unify our community in the awareness of this dangerous situation that our students face. It’s a new year, a natural time to set goals, make resolutions or start new projects. It is a perfect time to encourage your students to look at what they want to accomplish and what they can do to be successful. Eagle Activities: Pennies for Patients Grand Total: $2650.91!! We crushed the original goal of $2000. Way to go Aguilas! For the month of December – we would like to “Deck the Halls” with ornaments that will be made in class. If you could have your students think about their “Wish for the World” these wishes will be placed on the ornament at school. Then we will deck the halls with OPA’s Wish for the World! Pennies for Patients: We are grateful and proud of our students and families who have met our $2000 goal and surpassed it. Final totals will be announced on Monday (Dec. 3rd). Thank you for joining OPA in this service project to support the fight against Leukemia and Lymphoma. OPA Boys Basketball won the UCSSAL Northern Championship and will be hosting a play-off game. Welcome back to school, we hope you had a great break! DAY OF GIVING: Tomorrow (Tuesday, the 27th) is a “Day of Giving!” OPA students have raised $1636.70 for Pennies for Patients. We are about $364.00 away from our goal. OPA News before Thanksgiving Break!

CELEBRATIONS: SOCKTOBER: Final numbers are in! OPA collected 1281 pairs of socks for the Lantern House to provide to families in need. Thank you to all of you that supported this OPA Annual Drive. Thank you to our 2nd Graders that promote and collect all month and their teachers who orchestrate the activity! PENNIES FOR PATIENTS: At this time, more than $1000 dollars has been donated to fight Leukemia and Lymphoma. Thank you for all of the SOCKS… SOCKTOBER was a huge success and OPA kids have provided a community service for Ogden. Please celebrate with your kids the ability they have to impact their communities. I think that SOCKTOBER is a great example of service by kids! Parking Lot Concerns:  The flow of traffic is good and patience is evident in the Elementary Morning drop-off! This Weeks Activities:  Thank you to all parents and family that participated in OPA’s first annual Trunk or Treat and the Jr. High Black Out Dance. What a great week we had. This week is a slow week at OPA, because it is a Halloween Week at home! All Halloween activities will be in classes and no costumes will be needed at school. -SOCKTOBER Continues: OPA’s 2nd grade collects SOCKS for the Lantern House every October and this year they are on track to break their annual record.
