What is the Big Six?
The Big 6 are Six important steps in the process of doing research.
The Big Six is part of the Library Media curriculum for 6-12th graders in Utah.
There’s also the super 3 for the younger kids:
Step 1. Task Definition: About what do I want to learn more?
Step 2. Information Seeking Strategies: Which resources can I use?
Step 3. Location and Access: Where can I find these resources?
Step 4. Use of Information: What can I use from these resources?
Step 5. Synthesis: How can I share what I learned?

What’s the task?
Usually this comes as an assignment or instructions from a teacher/professor, but you can also come up with your own research task if you are interested in learning more about a topic for yourself.
