Dear Families,
One of the most important ways to support your student’s success is to make sure they are at school and ready to learn every day. Regular attendance helps students stay on track academically, build relationships, participate in learning, and feel connected to their school community.
What is chronic absenteeism?
Chronic absenteeism means missing 10% or more of the school year, whether absences are excused or unexcused. At a typical school, that is approximately 18 days—or just two days a month. Even occasional absences can add up quickly and create gaps in learning.
Students who are frequently absent may:
- Miss important instruction and opportunities to practice skills.
- Fall behind and have difficulty catching up.
- Feel disconnected from teachers, classmates, and school.
- Experience greater academic challenges over time.
Our School Goal
This year, our school has made reducing chronic absenteeism a priority. We are committed to working with students and families to improve attendance and ensure every student has the opportunity to be successful. We want to partner with you and help.
Every day matters. Thank you for making attendance a priority and helping your student make the most of every opportunity to learn, grow, connect, and succeed.
