Accreditation

Accreditation is awarded to educational institutions that meet high standards of providing quality education programs and services. A team of teachers and administrators from other schools review all aspects of education, including curriculum, teachers, and administration.

OPA Accreditations

Cognia uses a set of rigorous research-based standards and evidence-based criteria to examine the whole institution – the policies, programs, practices, learning conditions and cultural context – to determine how well the parts work together to carry out the institution’s vision and meet the needs of every learner.  Accreditation isn’t about passing a one-time inspection. Rather, accreditation recognizes education providers that demonstrate and sustain their commitments to continuous improvement and better learner outcomes.

Students who complete NCAA approved courses have the opportunity to participate in and obtain scholarships for college athletics.

Licensing

In Utah, all teachers must hold a valid teaching license and demonstrate ongoing progress toward obtaining a Professional Educator License (PEL) to be eligible to teach in state schools. Ogden Preparatory Academy (OPA) fully complies with all State and Federal educator licensing requirements. Utah offers three (3) distinct licensing levels:

The PEL represents the highest level of licensure in Utah, signifying that all licensing requirements have been successfully met. This license certifies an educator’s qualifications to teach in the state.

The AEL is designed for individuals who wish to teach in Utah but have not yet completed a formal educator preparation program (whether university-based or an alternative pathway). The AEL is valid for three (3) years and is not renewable

The OPA LEA Specific License is a unique teaching license issued by the OPA Board of Directors. It is valid for up to three (3) years and is recognized as a legitimate teaching credential for educators who:

  • Are actively working toward obtaining either a PEL or AEL but have experienced delays in processing their paperwork.
  • Have specialized experience or expertise in a particular field outside their licensed area

The OPA LEA Specific Endorsement is a special designation issued by the OPA Board of Directors. It is available to educators holding either a PEL or AEL and is valid for up to three (3) years. This endorsement serves to recognize additional expertise or qualifications relevant to OPA’s teaching needs.
